Dr. Richard (Rick) J. Goossen Online Course on "Live Your Calling"

Dr. Richard (Rick) J. Goossen will be teaching a six-session evening course in person (also available online) on "Live Your Calling" starting on January 22, 2025, through Willingdon School of the Bible & Ministry.

What are your gifts? Your passion? Where do you find meaning? What is your calling? A clear understanding of our calling is core for the Christian, no matter one's stage of life. The one starting a career or in the midst of education can lay a foundation for future plans. The one looking to reset can find direction mid-career. Those in their retirement stage can reboot their focus in life in order to finish well.

Discovering and developing meaning in our lives allows us to be biblical, practical, and relevant disciples. These three emphases help us face the opposing foci of mainstream culture, ensuring we appropriately connect meaning and identity in our work environment.

The course has six sessions on meaning and calling:

  • The Search for Meaning
  • Meaning in Life and Work
  • Finding Your Calling
  • Vocational Pyramid
  • The Principles and Practice of Calling
  • What is My Point?

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Make sense of your life and work within the context of a biblical framework
  2. Discover how your life experiences contribute to their unique and special purpose
  3. Assert biblical truth in everyday living, in light of opposing culture and secular pursuits
  4. Practically apply your calling in clear, tangible ways, no matter your work environment
  5. Develop a healthy relationship between your identity and workplace
  6. Create your own "Personal Calling Action Plan" with clear action steps to discern and apply your calling in life and work
