About the Presenters
The tearoom has been owned and run by Jackie and Alan since 2005. They operate with just the two of them and seldom have extra staff. This means that they are able to be consistent in all that they do, which has been a great strength of the tearoom over the past 15 years. They take time and care to give those little extras, seen and unseen ~ whether it be flexibility or just simply conversation ~ those things which can be lacking in many establishments today.
If you take time to read their story which is on the table, you will find in there the account of how their youngest son, Tom, committed suicide at the age of 16 in January 2004.
They share their story freely; the only reason for doing so is that by sharing their story, it may encourage others who have either been through similar experiences, or know someone who has.
Since that time theyr have been able to help individuals and groups by sharing their experiences. Soon after Tom died, Jackie began writing everything down as a journal. There were so many events which happened, thoughts and emotions which came to the both of them, and had they not been put down on paper they would have been forgotten.
Thirteen years on and the result is two books, both written by Jackie: Losing Tom, Finding Grace, and Even Though I Walk.
