About the Presenter
Arielle's earliest memories involve playing in the Rosa Flora greenhouse, hiding beneath the grading tables to avoid being spotted by her father—who, if he saw her, would assign her the task of sweeping rose cuttings. After earning a Philosophy degree from Calvin University and a Master’s in the same field from the University of Toronto, Arielle sought a more practical direction. She joined the family business while simultaneously completing a diploma in Human Resources. Not long after, her husband Ralph shifted from his supervisory role at Stelco’s Blast Furnace – Iron Making to the floral business. With a diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology, his expertise in operations and supervision became an invaluable asset. In 2008, the transition from the first to second generation of leadership began and was completed over the following years. Since then, Arielle and Ralph have taken full ownership of the business, which now encompasses over 55 acres of greenhouse production. Specializing in cut flowers such as standard and mini gerbera, snapdragons, and lisianthus, they continue to uphold the company’s motto: “Pride in Every Petal,” serving hundreds of wholesale customers with millions of stems of fresh-cut flowers annually. Rosa Flora ships to over 35 states and 6 provinces. Their 450 wholesale customers have a range of retailers and event planners that they supply to. Yearly, Rosa Flora ships 60 million stems.
